Nephrologist

MD, FRACP, PhD

Dr Stefanie Stangenberg is a nephrologist with interest in all aspects of general nephrology, dialysis, transplantation, hypertension and kidney stone prevention. She works as a part-time staff specialist at Royal North Shore Hospital and as a VMO nephrologist at the Northern Beaches Hospital and Sydney Adventist Hospital.

 

She studied medicine in Germany and subsequently trained as physician and nephrologist in Brisbane and Sydney at leading tertiary institutions including Royal North Shore Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital and St. George Hospital. In 2018, she was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Sydney for her thesis on the topic of early life influences on the future development of chronic kidney disease. She has published articles in various Nephrology journals. 

 

The main part of her work is the optimisation of risk factors that delay the progression of chronic kidney disease. She focuses on good communication and is a strong advocate for patient empowerment. She will work with GP’s, specialists and other health professionals in a team to ensure that you receive the best care.
